A practical comparison of private and small-group Pilates formats to help busy expats pick the right fit.
StrongFit offers Pilates in two formats — fully private 1-on-1 sessions and small groups of two to four people — and new members in Hai Phong often ask which one is the better fit. The honest answer depends on your goals, your schedule, and how much individual coaching attention you want in each session.
Private sessions make the most sense if you're recovering from an injury, dealing with a specific postural issue, brand new to Pilates and want to build correct habits from session one, or simply prefer a fully flexible schedule that doesn't depend on coordinating with other members. Every minute of a private session is built around your body and your goals that day.
Small-group sessions (2–4 people) suit members who are past the complete-beginner stage, want a slightly more social or motivating environment, or are looking for a more budget-friendly monthly package. Because groups are capped at four, instructors can still give real hands-on correction — this isn't a 20-person class where you're mostly watching a screen or an instructor at the front of the room.
Small groups also work well for couples or friends who want to train together — several StrongFit members book sessions as a pair, which keeps both the cost and the schedule easier to manage while still getting individual attention within the session.
Members aren't locked into one format. Many start with private sessions to build a solid foundation over the first 4–6 weeks, then move into small-group sessions once the fundamentals — breathing, core engagement, safe reformer setup — are second nature.
