InBody Scan in Hai Phong: What Every Expat Should Know Before Starting a Fitness Program

A plain-English breakdown of what an InBody scan measures and why it's the starting point for every new StrongFit member.

If you've never trained at a gym in Vietnam before, one of the first things you'll notice at StrongFit is that every new member starts with an InBody scan, not a treadmill. For expats used to gyms that skip straight to a workout, this can feel unfamiliar — but it's the single most useful tool for making sure your program is actually built around your body, not a generic template.

What an InBody Scan Actually Measures

InBody is a bioelectrical impedance device that measures body composition in under a minute: total muscle mass, body fat percentage, water balance, and — importantly — how that muscle and fat are distributed across your arms, legs, and trunk. Two people with the same weight and the same BMI can have very different results, which is exactly why generic programs so often fail to deliver visible change.

Why StrongFit Scans Every New Member

Instead of asking you to describe your goals in general terms, an InBody scan gives your coach hard numbers to work from on day one: whether you're carrying more fat than muscle relative to your frame, whether one side of your body is significantly stronger than the other (common after old injuries), and where your baseline actually is. That baseline is what every future session gets measured against, so progress is tracked with data rather than how you feel in the mirror.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

The scan itself takes about 60 seconds — you'll be asked to stand on the device holding two handles, in light clothing without metal jewelry or a phone in your pocket, for the most accurate reading. Your coach will walk through the results with you in plain English immediately afterward, explain what matters most for your goals, and use that to shape your first program.

Re-Scanning to Track Progress

Most StrongFit members are re-scanned every 4–6 weeks, which is enough time for meaningful changes in muscle and fat percentage to show up without over-testing. Seeing that progress in numbers — not just how your clothes fit — is one of the most consistent motivators our expat members mention.
